Shop Talk Black History Month Program 2022

The Shop Talk program is growing.
The initiative features Irving police officers making regular visits to barber shops to build relationships with the African American community. Pathways to H.O.P.E. Interview on ‘Local Closer Look’ on Air1 / K-Love

Bob Dittman talked with One CommunityUSA’s Bill Curry, Senior Dir. and Chaplain of Pathways to H.O.P.E (Helping Offenders Pursue Excellence) about how we help offenders leaving prison to reintegrate with society. Curry says the difference in our program is our mentor system, where we impact the lives of former inmates in a very personal way. We focus on veterans who wound up in prison, helping them to acquire tools needed to overcome PTSD and experiences while incarcerated. Pathways works with those in prison and continues until well after they have been released.

$10,000 Grant Pays for Barber Shop Renovations

Irving Barbershop Gives Back With Community Outreach

The owner of a barbershop in Irving wanted to give back to his community in a special way. Noe Araiza put together a back-to-school event with free haircuts and supplies, and Irving police were on hand to meet and greet everyone.
